6.05 Conference Committee Report

By all standards, the efforts of the Conference Committee over the last 14 months led to a successful D+B 2026 Annual Conference. While final attendance was lower than typical, those who attended had very high marks for the event. From the Compass Club Venue, the educational sessions, to the tours and gala, many pointed out that that is exactly what a good conference should look like. Two even stated that this was perhaps the best they had seen in 25 years. So it is worth noting that the processes that we used in Cleveland, while different than previous years, appeared to serve the attendees well.

Looking Forward:

After resolving some issues from our July Board meeting that led to much confusion within the committee, the committee is now currently focused on the foundation for Williamsburg 2027. The confusion contributed to critical delays and miscommunication at a time when hotel selection, preliminary contracts, and other matters need to be completed. The committee will be working diligently with staff to ensure that all steps are taken to begin the 2027 D+B Annual Conference. The committee looks forward to reporting to the Board as venue selections and early sponsorships are scheduled to be in place during the month of September.
