Above are the March membership totals.
Three days ago, we began experiencing issues with the CSV exports from our database. However, I feel pretty confident that the past 12 months' retention is as follows:
Total "new" members = 145
Total members returning = 67
Therefore, the total "actual" new members = 78
From the chart above net number of lost members year-over-year = 102
Add in the 78 new (offsetting) members = 180 total members lost in 12 months
Retention =
1024 - 180 = 844
844 / 1024 = 82.4%
That is only about 3% below what is expected and budgeted (although, at 1000 members, that's about 30).
The key is that our new recruitment is only 43.3% of our attrition. That's far below what it should be.
