AJA Student Competition 2025
Dear architecture students,
We would like to invite you to take part in the AJA's student architecture competition 2025. Every year an incredible amount of energy goes into your designs and portfolios. This competition, is a chance to celebrate and showcase your work, and more widely, the creativity of Jersey's architecture students.
The Brief
This year we would like you to submit an image and a drawing from your portfolio. The two elements of your work could be from the same project, have ideas with a similar theme, or just simply be two pieces that you think work well together. You can use them as you like, to tell a story, present your best pieces, describe a moment, or to have fun with some 'gems' you feel deserve their own attention.
The image can be anything, photos of the city, photos of models, renders, collages, free hand illustrations or sketches etc.
The drawing should be orthographic, and it should be scalable (no specific scales required). The drawing can be by hand or by computer. It can be a plan, section, axo, elevation. It can be a sketch, or a final drawing.
With the work you should provide 200-300 words of text. The text can be an overview of the relevant project, a poem, a story setting the scene of the work, or an excerpt you already have.
The Submission
The format of the submission should work at A3 and you can submit a max of 2no. A3 sheets in PDF format. The A3’s can be tiled together or can sit independently. What ever works best.
A successful entrant will:
- Choose two images that work well together, creating a whole impression greater than the sum of their parts.
- Demonstrate their skill, judgement and craft.
- Articulate their ideas clearly with their text in a way that elevates the image and the drawing.

Overall Winner: £250
Commendation part 1: £100
Commendation part 2: £100

- Registration: To register for entry please complete the contact form on the AJA website naming the AJA student competition 2025 in the message field: https://www.jerseyarchitects.com/contact
- Deadline: Please submit your entry to ajacounciljsy@gmail.com by Friday the 18th of July
- Please title your email with: AJA Student Competition 2025 / Your name / level (part 1 or part 2) / Title of your submission.
- Announcement: The competition winners will be announced by TBC
- Event: An event will be held in the first week of September to celebrate all entrants to the competition. Details of the event will be confirmed in due course.
