Introductions

Gathering Primo info: there are folders in Basecamp to gather info about training, policies & procedures, articles, presentations from Eluna or other conferences

Survey:
Should we do one?
  • Erin S: yes to survey, please create Basecamp doc for us to gather ideas (done)
Shannon:
  • should have Primo vanguard after data load in April,
  • we'll have Alma prospect questionnaire coming out over 3ish weeks, might want to wait to send out our own survey
  • can get data from other working groups from Shannon, Heidi or Kristy, did a support survey, eresources survey, etc. (good to avoid duplication)
Possible questions:
  • Erin R: Staffing - who will manage this?
  • Rebecca - we should learn more before we survey

SUNYLA: do we want to put in proposal?
Shannon:
  • Cover what would be common to all SUNYs in Primo
  • Here's what Primo can do
  • We'll have policy level discussion that should be worked on now: e.g.s all Primo instances will have delivery options enabled, get it approved as policy or configuration; access: what collections are exposed in the network zone - makes it open to request from other schools, some schools might not want to loan current materials, there'll be crossover discussion with other working groups
Working Group Policy Proposals:
  • We'll come up with proposals, send to LSP Taskforce, they'll vote on it, if passed it becomes policy
  • We have power (different from days of SCLD, which only had quasi-power)

Things for Group to Consider:
  • Librarian attachment to standalone OPAC (Kristy L): Wisconsin U example of search physical holdings (https://www.library.wisc.edu/)
  • Who will have control access to admin areas? (Erin R.): Shannon: this will be connected to 4 SLC support positions but we can recommend central vs. local control, Primo give opportunity to make coalition of libraries a cohesive whole
  • How much self-training should we do now? (Erin R): Shannon: training will be part of onboarding (both in-person and online) but the more you know ahead of time, more meaningful training will be. Heidi: we can recommend training ideas to LSP Training Working Group
  • Bx Recommender: demos coming, SLC approved campus pricing structure, we should do a thorough analysis of usefulness, price will shift depending on how many campuses are interested (not all campuses or nothing)
  • How will small campuses handle implementation? (Kristy L) Need to provide basic out of the box functionality for campuses with limited staff, but also allow granularity for larger places with more highly trained staff.
  • Policies are in our charge (Shannon)
