Teflon tape to lock portafilter handles

We don't glue handles onto portafilter heads, as of the start of 2021, so that people can change their handles easily.   We tighten them by hand as hard as we can. But sometimes, they loosen, and you might find your portafilter head rotating on the handle.

On Instagram, someone https://www.instagram.com/atsindrawde/ suggested
the best mod I made to the DE1 Portafilter was the teflon tape around the screw threads keeps it snug and tight and never comes loose anymore.

I asked my engineer Johnny to try this out, and he found that 6 to 7 wraps around the bolt provided the best friction feeling.

We're going to move to doing this shortly, on all new portafilters we put together.

If you find your portafilter handle unscrewing from the head, here are photos of the process.

Teflon tape (also called "plumber's tape") is VERY cheap. On Amazon, it's $2/roll.
