AIRBORNE DATA TECHNICIAN

Conducts flight planning, airborne data collection, initial data processing, and airborne instrument calibration.  Maintains aircraft instruments and aircraft.  Manages billing for flights.  Coordinates activities with pilots, stakeholders, data processing team and ground crew before, during and after flights. 
 
Minimum required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in any field relevant to airborne remote sensing, science, or related technical field plus (1) one year experience with aircraft maintenance, mission (flight) planning, aircraft remote sensing, instrument maintenance and calibration, image processing (georectification and reflectance calibration), and billing. Excellent communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.  
 
Preferred qualifications: Three years experience with aircraft maintenance, aircraft flight planning and remote sensing (imaging spectrometry, thermal imaging), instrumentation, and image processing. Familiarity with related science goals preferred. Ability to train others when necessary. Pilot’s license a plus.
