Good Afternoon Board. On 11/18 I was able to host a membership roundtable discussion, but unfortunately, poor planning on my part left the meeting largely unattended. I am going to report on what members that we able to be there was, and I will be re-scheduling an additional roundtable for all the members that couldn't be there, but have emailed me directly showing interest.
The attendance was light, as mentioned, with mostly fellow board member and a few long time members. One of the biggest items that jumped out to me was that the long time members miss the face to face interactions of what the State Societies used to provide. There were multiple requests to being back State societies and get more face to face time. I explained, as well as others, that there is nothing stopping members from planning get togethers. They can call it a Society, Chapter, Huddle, whatever, just get out there and get the ball rolling.
The next items that caught my attention was CEUs. Dropping the requirement for CEUs seems to be a sore subject for Professional Members that have been with AIBD for longer lengths of time. I am in agreement that we, as a Board, should consider bringing CEU requirements back for Professional Members, and the number the roundtable came up with was 4. I would like to offer this as a point of discussion during the "Good of the Institute" portion of todays meeting.
Attached please also find out current membership numbers. We are currently down, and off track to meet my goal if increasing membership by 10%, but I will keep plugging away.
