I have not experienced generosity like this from "strangers", which we are now no longer. So much love imbued into everywhere you lay your eye. So much to admire and enjoy with all the senses. Thank you for the calm and true luxury of time spent with no regrets for not wanting to "do" anything but take a vacation from ourselves with lots of lovely treats from you. P.S. We will shout about you in hushed tones.

Visiting Amsterdam for the first time. A short trip, but planning to make the most of it. Very excited by the beautiful house. We are lucky to be two souls who've found each other and our way here.
This is one of the best places we've ever stayed. It has all of the details you want, and ones you never even knew you wanted – like dates at breakfast! Every item is just so beautiful and so beautifully put together. Your recommendations were all wonderful, and the other guests were so lovely as well. Thank you most of all for your kindness and for opening up your home.
We booked this trip in desperate need of some inspiration before the winter. We were so lucky to find this place! Thank you for a lovely stay, we love the Carmen universe. Going back to Norway with lots of inspiration.

I had such an enjoyable time in your beautiful home. The interiors were perfectly suited to my taste and everyone (the entire Carmen team at the guesthouse/shop/cafe) was so welcoming. The service felt so personal and the space itself (communal areas and the bedroom) was so relaxing and cosy. Thank you also for the delicious breakfast and pastries/afternoon treats. Really loved the book selection in the reading nook and the cafe too (esp the poetry by Arab women poets and Alaa Abdel Fattah's memoirs) so thank you for putting those out for guests to read!

Two perfect days spent as guests in Amsterdam with your gorgeous house as our base. We felt a family-style welcome, and being surrounded by such calmness and beauty gave fuel to our hearts and souls. We look forward to being back.

To wake up here on my birthday was a dream come true! Truly love everything; cooking pasta in the kitchen, waking up to the view of the sunny canals, having coffee in bed, cheese on bread, morning tunes in the kitchen, birds singing in the garden, first spring blossoms on the trees in the garden. Thank you!
In a home away from (yet so close to) home, we found the universe. Where pinching yourself quickly becomes natural and necessary. The dream never ends, nor should you let it. And if a uniform for living did exist, this could be it. Interacting with souls who share space, light and stories, all the while remembering to just be alone and together, unafraid. Thank you for everything.

Everything exceeded our our expectations. We loved getting to spend a good amount of our trip to Amsterdam with this oasis as our homebase. From the details to the hospitality, every guest touchpoint feels so thoughtful. We hope to one day be able to have a space that makes people feel the way we have while staying here.

It was probably the best hospitality experience I have ever had - it feels very special to stay at Carmen's guesthouse, where you instantly feel welcome and at home. The freedom to navigate and experience the the beautiful spaces is unlike any other guesthouse or hotel I have ever been. To experience mornings or evenings at the downstairs kitchen has been a highlight, and you have the massive added plus of the shop and cafe, which are also incredibly well curated and offer a unique mix of home objects and RTW next to a wonderfully delicious choice of breakfast and lunch menus. 10/10 and hope to be back soon!!!
Beautifully designed spaces, with the most thoughtful touches. Carmen charms those who like a home away from home instead of another cookie cutter hotel. The food follows the same thread as the spaces: simple dishes incredibly well executed. True gem.
The three days I spent here gave me good impressions and memories of Amsterdam. This is a guesthouse that you will want to come back to next time, with rooms and bedding that are more comfortable and better than any other hotel, a good host, and a living room and kitchen full of emotion.
