Steve, Ted, and I had an accounting huddle to review the overall state of revenues and expenses. Revenues are down, and expenses and payroll remain consistent. It has been a struggle for some time to make payroll. It's become the norm to borrow from one of our savings accounts to make payroll and then hopefully repay it when revenue catches up. I know Steve has done the best he can, juggling things to make everything work. I am still recommending that we reduce the staff, thereby reducing payroll.
I believe it's time to reorganize the association, specifically how duties and tasks are handled.
Revenue has declined over the past several years. We have either spent or borrowed from our savings account to the point that they are almost nonexistent. I believe we need to change our operations to rebuild our reserves and, at the same time, get more people involved in all aspects of running this organization. Steve has made the comment, "What if Steve gets hit by a bus?" I believe Steve got hit by a bus a long time ago. It's not reasonable to ask one person to do the work Steve does on a regular basis. Our directors' main task should be promoting our organization, attending events, and pursuing corporate sponsorships.
I am recommending that the committees we have take ownership of the tasks currently handled by salaried personnel. Accepting the chair of a committee should mean you are willing to handle all tasks for the association of that committee. If tasks are delegated to committee members, they should be spread out so each person on the committee has a manageable amount of work.

- The finance committee should take responsibility for all accounting, removing this from Steve's plate and freeing up more of his time to promote the organization. The finance committee should also hire a CPA to do the organization's taxes each year.
- The membership committee should handle all membership tasks.
- The certification committee should handle all certification tasks.
- The conference committee already handles conference tasks.
We need to make a change now to start getting back where we need to be.
