Agenda: follow-up on post 1/12 fix testing
Hathitrust: Nancy will continue to investigate whether or not she can activate their collections only for expanded searching, and if in doing that, they can still get full-text links on the records. Because UB purchases some Hathitrust content, it may not be feasible to fully test this because they won't want to deactivate their full-text. We'll look for another campus to test OA to see if you can hide it from unexpanded searching yet find it in expanded with the links.
BCC test of deactivating Gale Cengage Academic OneFile A&I for search: Noah posted that they were able to hide results from the Gale Cengage Academic OneFile A&I database index by deactivating it for CDI search. Follow-up discussion about why they'd want to do that since they do have Academic OneFile collection (different from A&I database) active for full-text. Having trouble with Proquest Essentials links that come up on these records. Will continue to explore. Surprised that they could affect full text searching, since we've been told that that's not possible, and also surprised because Academic OneFile full-text collection IS marked active for CDI search. ???

EasyActive activation vs. Fully Flexible:
- Discussed different needs at university centers and small campuses. Universities would like it if all new collections were automatically added to the extended search because their researchers want to see everything (EasyActive model?). Not ideal for small campuses, especially for OA content, which the SLSS has been encouraging them to clean up.
- Outstanding questions: if we went EasyActive as a consortia can small campuses have any control over searchable collections? If we went EasyActive would campus IZ be cluttered up with all of the collections active for search, or would the searching just live in the uncontrollable mystery central index? We'll be curious to see the list of the collections that won't be included in the CDI - things like some A&I content, things that you have to subscribe to to search, etc.
Next Meeting:
- We'll continue to test and discuss in Basecamp
- We'll wait to set a meeting until after February fixes have gone live
- Think about testing ILL and other GES links as that would something each campus would have to update
