It is finally here! The 2024 ARDA Season is upon us. Our entry period opened on March 11th, and we hope for nothing less than another record-breaking year.

Five of our six judges are in place and I can not be more grateful for their willingness to serve in this capacity. As I mentioned last month in our meeting, those who have judged ARDA in the past would have the opportunity to serve especially if many years or even decades have passed. I am confident their expertise will only assist in elevating the quality and integrity of our program. Headshots and mini-biographies will be included in the May Report, or posted sooner on the ARDA web page.

The plan continues that we will be doing outside advertising in hopes of generating additional entries and income and attracting new members. It was decided not to advertise with Lakeshore Home and Design. It was not competitive in circulation and overall cost, making it a potentially large investment with a lower return.

We will be advertising in  Triangle Home Decor and Design. A sample of the publication is here:

While speaking with the publisher and marketing staff, we discussed the possibility of highlighting the designers (if they were to win) in future issues. We discussed that this year's timeline would be extremely tight since it would be about a week after the awards gala, but it would be great material for the future. It also identifies additional exposure for not only ARDA but AIBD. Again this comes at no cost to the institute, but rather in the form of a donation.

It is relevant to know where we are compared to other design competitions and to perhaps become aware of what areas we can do better. This was an excerpt from Residential Design magazine and their numbers. It is simply for your review.

This was from NAHB and the 2024 BALA Awards  (I am not aware of the total number of entries for BALA) :

" The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) announced the winners of the 2023 Best in American Living™ Awards (BALA) during the NAHB International Builders’ Show held last week in Las Vegas. There were 135 platinum, gold and silver award winners, along with seven best in region winners and a WOW award winner. The awards are sponsored by SMEG. "

We have also created some fun marketing pieces that include a "breaking news" segment and the April 1st Monday Minute. All in fun, but hopefully memorable enough to keep ARDA in mind for all those who see it.

Respectfully,

Brandon Clokey
