How to Get a License to Edit?

By default, every staff account comes with the ability to view, edit, and create office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) within office.com. But there are some features that the desktop editions of the Office Suite have that the online editions do not.

If you need a license for the desktop apps, joining the "M365 Desktop Apps Team" in Microsoft Teams will automatically assign your account a license. (Note: it can take about 15 minutes for that to happen.)

Please understand there are a limited number of licenses that we own, if you find that you don't need the features of the desktop editions please leave the team so we can preserve our supply.

To join the Team and get a license for the desktop office apps, follow the steps below:
In Teams, select See All Your Teams, and then from the drop down, Join Team.
Then, enter the code: f8szzx6 and click Add Team.

You will be joined to the "M365 Desktop Apps Team" and your account will automatically be assigned a license.

To activate Office, first you'll need to open one of the Microsoft apps (such as Microsoft Word, as shown below). In the upper-left corner of the menu bar, select the name of the app (in this case, Word) and then click on Activate Microsoft 365. When prompted, enter your staff account login information.
