Motion:

By: Steve Mickley, Executive Director
I move to purchase one $1500 Housing 2.0 registration (at the $1000 discounted rate) as an organization to award as the AIBD president and staff decide.

This is for information and does not require approval by the Board. However, a motion follows.

Green Builder Media and Sam Rashkin have joined forces to launch Housing 2.0, a comprehensive training and education program designed to teach building professionals how to prepare themselves for the massive transformation that the housing sector is currently experiencing.  The program will help building professionals design and construct higher performance, healthier, more sustainable homes, optimizing the total housing user experience with an estimated 30 to 70% hard cost savings/added value per home.

The Housing 2.0 program includes a variety of elements, including:
  • 5-part workshops (offered quarterly) that explore the Housing 2.0 fundamentals
  • 6 online courses with national thought leaders that delve into key topic areas like integrating digital technology, demystifying zero-carbon, advanced health controls and sensors, offsite construction, and biophilic design
  • Hands-on Action Groups that allow building professionals to apply the Housing 2.0 fundamentals to real projects
  • COGNITION Smart Data insights into market trends, market influencers, purchase drivers, behavioral patterns, and innovations transforming the market
  • Rashkin’s second book, titled Housing 2.0, A Builder Guide to Surviving Disruption
  • Articles, blogs, videos, and extensive editorial coverage generated by Green Builder Media’s award-winning editorial team

Green Builder Media has offered AIBD the opportunity to become a Participating Partner in the Housing 2.0 program. This designation will provide AIBD with:
  • Leadership positioning and brand association with the only national program designed to optimize the homebuyer experience
  • Logo placement on Housing 2.0 marketing material and landing pages
  • Recognition in editorial
  • 33% discount on Housing 2.0 participation fees:
  • Option 1: $1,000 per participant for workshops, online courses, and content (discounted from $1,500)
  • Option 2: $2,000 per participant for Action Group, workshops, online courses, and content (discounted from $3,000)

In order to become a Participating Partner, 5 or more people from AIBD must register for the Housing 2.0 program.

They are offering three models:
  • Model 1: your organization purchases the 5+ registrations and allocates them to key members
  • Model 2: you pass along the discounted rate to your members
  • Model 3: you charge your members the full rate and generate revenue ($500 per participant for Option 1 and $1,000 per participant for Option 2)

Staff is planning to utilize Model 2 by offering the "scholarship" in the following ways.
  1. Email offers to members only announcing the "$500 AIBD scholarship" to Housing 2.0.
  2. Email announcements to non-members by letting them know that the $500 "AIBD Scholarship" is only available to members and invite them to join.
Here are some ideas for using the one registration that has been purchased.
  1. Raffle off the registration to one person from a pool of contestants created by those who refer a new member in the month of February and those who join as new members in the month of February.
  2. Use the registration as a door prize at the Winter Conference.
  3. Auction off the registration and use the money for a charitable cause.
  4. Our president is open to other suggestions.
