To share what we have learned with others who are just starting out with analytics, we will add to SLC FAQ (which appears to be the preferred way of delivering this type of info), including:
- Move the FAQ from our LibGuide to the SLC guide
- Mine Basecamp for analytics Q&As and add to SLC/FAQ
- Add one Q/A about additional resources that we can all contribute to directing people to ELUNA, ENUG, etc., for more in-depth help from users at other campuses
Gail will be working on tips for report naming conventions, maintenance, etc.
Many of us are experiencing slowness of reports, this has been acknowledged by ExLibris. Reports are on a shared Oracle server, so the best advice for now is to run reports early in the day whenever possible.
Gail has been working in the NZ and recommends breaking larger reports into smaller ones to help with the speed problem. When exporting, use .csv - these files export better than .xls.
ENUG will be in New Paltz this year (10/24 & 25) - Gail and Kristy are discussing holding an analytics user group session to share experiences.
Next meeting will be 9/25 at 10am.
