Dear JWW Members,

Yesterday, President Trump signed  America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018. This act has potential impacts on a number of topics that concern Jersey Water Works' goals and projects. While not at all representative of the entire scope of the bill, it includes the following provisions that are relevant to JWW:

  • Increases State Revolving Fund (SRF) monies from $1 billion to $1.95 billion in 2021
  • Reauthorizes the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA)
  • Increases the amount of SRF funds that can be sent to economically disadvantaged communities and increases the repayment period by 10 years
  • Creates a grant program for lead-free school drinking water fountains
  • Directs EPA to inventory lead service lines
  • Directs EPA to create a stormwater infrastructure funding task force
  • Changes requirements for consumer confidence reports relating to frequency and readability
  • Provides assistance to water utilities to improve resiliency from weather and cyber-related threats
  • Creates a grant program for water workforce development

Here is the section by section summary of the bill.

If anyone is aware of additional provisions of the bill that may be of interest to the collaborative, please share them here. Thanks!
