Happy New Year everyone!
As we transition into 2024 a few thoughts for us all to consider....
One of my close friends is a dedicated body builder. He approaches this holistically and completely. This time of year, you can usually see a post from him on social media stating something like "Watch out gym regulars.... the New Years resolutioners are coming... hold fast until February". Although this is meant to be comical, it is both truthful and accurate. I have recently researched this and a number of resources are consistent in saying that one major reason for resolutions failing is we try to change too much too quickly.
As we reflect upon this, I want to encourage us within our organization that we are in fact seeing positive impact and growth. This is a marathon not a sprint. Also as we focus on our committees and groups within AIBD, sometimes it is best to make a list of all the things we would like to accomplish and then focus on a logical first step. That is why the GGOB mentality supports the setting of goals and review of results like a scoreboard. Sometimes it is necessary to focus on the little things as they eventually turn into big things.
One of my mentors, upon seeing me stressed out about a large project, would say to me "Ben how do you eat an elephant"... "one bite at a time". It may become easy to see something as overwhelming until we separate it into "bite sized" pieces.
I look forward to hearing the progress that our teams have made in today's meeting. As always I appreciate you all.
This concludes my report.
