Session 9 Housing and Open Space- Can Towns Have Both? .mp4

Notes:

Open space preservation and housing density are not mutually exclusive! Towns can have – and often aim for -- both to attract a variety of residents with a range of skills, provide for a beneficial quality of life and offer a wide array of housing options. Can SCRCOG municipalities, most of them with both open space and areas with infrastructure and density, continue to have both? Can housing advocates and open space advocates work together for the benefit of all? And how can experts help? This SCRCOG Housing Work Group session will focus on how forthcoming state legislation passed by the General Assembly might impact the assistance – ideas, methods, strategies, tools – municipalities will need to expand their spectrum of housing choices while preserving the parks, farms and other green spaces that enhance their quality of life.
