The Department of Psychology has set aside a limited amount of funds for the Graduate Student Diversity Research Awards.

The attached file contains the guidelines and application format for the 2018-2019 Student Diversity Research Awards. Please read it carefully before completing the application. As specified in the guidelines, applications must be submitted by Friday, February 15, 2019


Submission: 
 
Students who would like to be considered for one of these awards should submit the following materials to Aki Masuda (amasuda4@hawaii.edu) with the subject line: Student Diversity Research Award by Friday, February 15, 2019.
 
1.    A current CV
2.    A description of the project (no more than 2 pages) that includes:
a.    The type of award that you would like to be considered (e.g., Diversity Research Award for Completed Thesis); 
b.    A description of the importance of the study, specifically how the study reflects and promotes diversity;
c.    Clear description of study methodology in non-technical terms 
d.    Status of the project: please describe any milestones reached (e.g., date of when dissertation study was proposed; has data collection been started/finished; has analyses been started/finished, etc.);
e.    Delineates key findings to date (even if preliminary) or hypothesized/expected results if no data has been collected;
f.     Your plan for disseminating the findings and list any achievements related to the project (e.g., conference presentation, peer-reviewed paper);
g.    Describe how this research project/program will help you achieve your long-term goals as they relate to promoting diversity
3.    Description of IRB submission/approval status (if approved, please attach approval letter as appendix)
4.    Letter of Support from your advisor, including a confirmation from your advisor on the status of your project: Please see the Student Diversity Research Award Advisor Endorsement(1 page max).
5.    Additional submission requirements based on award type:
a.    Student-led research projects involving a research team: include a brief description of roles and responsibility percentages of each team member.  
b.    Completed Thesis: include as an appendix a copy of your final thesis defense manuscript or, if submitted/accepted for publication, a copy of the publication manuscript. 
c.    Completed Student-Led Research Projects: Include as an appendix a copy of the final dissemination product (e.g., abstract submission, publication manuscript, conference presentation, etc.).
