THE MISCONCEPTION OF SELF-CARE

More often than not, you have sat at your desk, car, or laid in bed with the thought “I really need to get a massage”. This is your body giving you a sign that it is stressed and that your nervous system is overworked!

Is this the right time to get a massage? YES and NO. Here’s why:
  • YES - We want to soothe the nervous system to help give you the sense of relaxation in order to loosen tight muscles.
  • NO - It gives your brain a false message that your body is back to 100% after a great massage. So then you go about your life until your brain sends another “I really need a massage” SOS to you.
This message from your brain is your conscious self (Ego) telling you that you are ok when the overall state of your body is not.

I know… No one wants to be told that they are not taking care of themselves!! Especially right after an amazing Mélange NeuroMassage! However, this is a harsh truth of self care. If you are coming to our office when your mind is telling you it needs treatment or that once a month is all “I NEED” to feel better; the body will continue working at a minimal level, regardless of how great you feel days or week after.

Think of massage like learning a new skill! Let’s take a language as an example:

If you put effort into learning a new language only one time a month, what are the chances you would be fluent by the end of the year? Now, how fluent would you be if you practiced 4 times a month, 2 times a week, or daily?

And that is how we get to frequency of visits.

FREQUENCY x VISITS = VIBRATIONAL VALUE:

If you value self-care, the frequency of that care has to be “I WANT” over “I NEED”. Our bodies are tuned to certain frequencies and our use of words play a vital role in how the body reacts to any type of care.

If you do not want to feel continual discomfort in between visits that keep you sayingI NEED to not feel this discomfort”, you have to WANT to come in more frequently until that frequency lessens.

As your body becomes aware of the care you are giving it, your frequency turns into “I WANT to not feel this discomfort”. At this point, your body understands that it doesn’t have to live with that pain or tightness in order to justify receiving self-care!

Our goal is to have your brain tell you that it WANTS treatment!  The more massages within a month it receives, the better your mind and body can work together to maintain an optimal wellness balance!

So I leave you with a question; what type of frequency do you want to tune into?
