4.1 - Presidents Report

A lot of work is being done to prepare for our first hybrid conference this month. We will hear more about that during the conference committee report.

I continue to speak with our Executive Director Steve, once a week on Monday mornings. I enjoy talking with Steve. Sometimes we share some great motivational topics and ideas to help our Board with leadership skills.

Other times we talk about the business part of our Institute. Steve is working with our accountant and IRS on some mishandled filings created by our accountant. Steve is on top of it and shares everything with me on what's happening. We may need to fire that accountant when Steve gets through the business paperwork that needs to be done. Part of the mishap is due to our Washington DC mailing address and the delay to get mail to our Florida office. One thing at a time. Steve will be keeping me updated on the progress.

We need to get a hired person to help us with our chapters. Keeping the chapters growing is a load of work that is keeping Steve bogged down. We are currently working on a job description for this person and when the time comes we will ask the Board for approval to bring in some help. I like to compare this to what the staff did with Rusty and how he has helped the certification program take off. A similar situation with someone assigned to chapters can potentially do the same thing and help chapters grow.

I would like to see the Board have a semi-annual retreat even if it is a virtual retreat. The purpose is to take a deeper dive into making sure we are moving ahead with our priority goals, for example progress on our ANSI accreditation, and to look ahead and plan, as much as is possible.

Hopefully there will not be too much turmoil following the elections. I feel like this Institute has gained a lot of strength over the past few years, thanks to a continuing great Board of Directors and Staff. We will keep moving forward and ready to adapt if needed.

Thats is all I have to report. Please ask if you have any questions.
