Research Positions Available, University of Minnesota
We have multiple openings for postdoctoral researchers to join an interdisciplinary team and advance scientific understanding and predictability of the transport and fate of agricultural trace gases including ammonia, nitrous oxide (its isotopologues and isotopomers), methane, dicamba, and others.
Position 1: Interest/expertise in biogeochemical modeling and developing improved algorithms to describe soil N cycling and associated nitrous oxide emissions in intensively fertilized agro-ecosystems.
Position 2: Interest/expertise in using trace gas observations and modeling to estimate regional emissions of nitrous oxide and ammonia with an emphasis on stable isotope measurements of nitrous oxide.
Postdoctoral candidates should have a PhD in a related science or engineering field. Expertise in one or more of the following areas would be a significant asset: trace gas measurements, biogeochemical modeling, chemical transport modeling, and hands on experience with the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF or WRF-Chem) and/or the DayCent model.
The University of Minnesota offers a number of high-quality career development resources for postdocs, for example, through the “Postdoctoral Scholar Toolkit” (https://grad.umn.edu/postdoctoral-scholar-toolkit).
Please email a CV, a cover letter describing research experience, career goals, your fit for the position, two representative publications, and contact information for two references to Tim Griffis, timgriffis@umn.edu and Rod Venterea, venterea@umn.edu ATTN: Postdoctoral Search
