Project Manager Updates
We know that developing and maintaining a rich collection with diverse author perspectives and voices requires a multi-pronged approach: selecting/purchasing, promoting/marketing, and weeding/deselecting. To work on the promoting/marketing piece, we need your help! OverDrive provided us with a circulation report looking specifically at titles from their Diverse Lists. Our goals for this activity are two-fold: 1) coordinate some practice with the shelf talker feature; and 2) amplify some of the titles in the collection that are circulating less frequently.

If you would like to participate in this shelf talker activity, please leave a comment on this module post or send Laura an email at laura@wils.org by or before Friday, October 21.

Diverse Collection Action Plan Ideas | October
  • The diverse collection support toolkit is one of many resources for the Wisconsin Digital Library Consortium and Advantage selectors. Project managers would love your feedback and input on these resources -- fill out this quick questionnaire by October 31st to let us know your thoughts.
  • DPI's Inclusive Services Toolkit and Assessment Guide (first published in 2018) includes a section on and assessment guide for library collections. Reviewing and revisiting this guide on a regular basis can help keep different aspects of inclusive collection development top of mind.

Resource or Tool of the Month
DPI's Inclusive Services Toolkit and Assessment Guide - we encourage you and other library or system staff to take a close look at the toolkit and assessment guide mentioned above. There are many great tools and rubrics to utilize to understand your library's baseline and to use on an ongoing basis to assess your library's progress over time.
