Aligning our staff with HWH's goals

Entering a new year is the perfect time to align HWH's organisational objectives to our employees' personal and professional growth.

Goal setting is a powerful tool that enhances individual performance and contributes to our business's overall success.

Following are some tips and tricks to help us facilitate effective goal-setting for our employees each year.

Align Personal Goals with Organisational Objectives
  • Encourage employees to set goals aligning with our broader mission and values.
  • This creates a sense of purpose and reinforces their commitment to the team's overall success.
  • For instance, if we aim to improve client satisfaction, employees can set goals for enhancing communication or developing new skills.
SMART Goals
  • Remind the employees of the SMART criteria for goal setting –
    • Specific,
    • Measurable,
    • Achievable,
    • Relevant, and
    • Time-bound.
  • This framework ensures that goals are well-defined, quantifiable, realistic, aligned with organisational needs, and have a clear timeframe.
  • This clarity facilitates better tracking and evaluation of progress.
Encourage Continuous Learning
  • Continuous learning is essential in the dynamic fields of NDIS and Aged Care.
  • Encourage employees to set goals related to professional development.
  • This could involve attending relevant workshops, obtaining certifications, or pursuing advanced training programs.
  • Investing in the growth of our teams ultimately benefits both the employees and HWH.
Regular Check-ins and Feedback
  • Establish a system of regular check-ins to monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • This creates a supportive environment where employees feel valued and motivated to achieve their goals.
  • Acknowledge achievements, no matter how small, and address any challenges they may face.
Promote Well-being Goals
  • Recognise the importance of holistic well-being.
  • Encourage employees to set goals for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, physical fitness, and mental health.
  • This can positively impact their performance, reduce burnout, and contribute to a more positive workplace culture.
Foster a Collaborative Culture
  • Emphasise the importance of teamwork and collaboration by setting team-based goals.
  • This could involve joint projects, cross-functional training, or collaborative problem-solving.
  • Achieving shared objectives fosters a sense of camaraderie and collective accomplishment.
Celebrate Achievements
  • When goals are met, we should celebrate the achievements, whether big or small, as recognition and appreciation contribute to a positive work environment and motivate employees to continue striving for excellence.
  • We might consider implementing a recognition program to acknowledge outstanding accomplishments publicly.
