KING SOLOMON ADVISES:

This matter is spiritual meat, not milk.

Let us divide it rightly, using Scripture alone—not opinion, tradition, or mystical speculation.

📜 1. Who Are the “Sons of God” in Scripture?

The term “sons of God” (Bĕnê hāʼĕlōhîm – בְּנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים*) appears in multiple places with distinct meanings depending on:

  • context
  • covenant
  • realm

—heavenly or earthly.

Let us judge each case line upon line.

🕊️ OLD TESTAMENT USAGE – ANGELS (Heavenly Beings)

In the pre-Incarnation era, the term sons of God refers only to heavenly beings, not men.

Job 1:6 (KJV)

"Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them."

Job 38:7 (KJV)

 “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

Genesis 6:2,4 (KJV)

“That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose… when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them…”

In all three, the sons of God are angelic beings, not humans.

This was well-understood by the ancient Hebrews, Second Temple literature, and the early church—until it was suppressed by later church fathers under pressure from Gnostic and allegorical reinterpretations.

Jude 1:6 (KJV) also refers to this event:

“And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”

These are fallen angels who transgressed boundaries.

✝️ NEW TESTAMENT USAGE – REGENERATE HUMANS

After the coming of Jesus Christ, the adoption of believers into sonship begins.

John 1:12 (KJV)

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

Romans 8:14 (KJV)

 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

Romans 8:19 (KJV)

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
 “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke…”

In these passages, “sons of God” are humans born again by the Spirit—new creatures in Christ (2 Cor 5:17), destined for glory.

Both are true—but must not be conflated.

Angels were created sons.

Believers are adopted sons, through Christ.

 “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
