Nehemiah (/ˌniːəˈmaɪə/; Hebrew: נְחֶמְיָה‎ Nəḥemyā, "Yah comforts") is the central figure of the Book of Nehemiah, which describes his work in rebuilding Jerusalem during the Second Temple period as the governor of Persian Judea under Artaxerxes I of Persia (465–424 BC).

He wasn't a preacher.

He wasn't a prophet.

He was a cup bearer, a servant.

But one day, he heard that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down.

Insert here, the church in America.

Burned.

And in that moment, his heart broke Scripture says he wept, he mourned, he fasted, and prayed for days.

But Nehemiah didn't stop there, like most Christians.

He didn't say,

He went to the king, took permission, rallied men together, and rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days.

Imagine rebuilding America without waiting for your pastor to tell you to do it.

Without waiting for some politician to give you permission.

But that's not the part people talk about.

Here's what happened in the middle of that assignment.

Nehemiah was threatened.

He was mocked.

He was sabotaged.

And his own people tried to talk him out of finishing.

The walls were not the real assignment.

They had lived so long in defeat.

They believed the Romans of the city were permanent.

Nehemiah didn't just rebuild the city.

He rebuilt their belief in God's assignment.

That's where you are.

You've seen the ruins of culture, of the church, of society.

And like that, you're just standing there.

Nehemiah's people surrounded and stood there, waiting for permission to move.

God is not waiting.

He's already given the orders.

You were taught through modern church that waiting is obedience.

That you just stay still and God will move.

Where do you think these messages really came from?

But in reality, silence has become your sedative.

The devil doesn't have to steal your fire.

He just has to convince you to delay it.

Let me be clear.

Waiting without a word from God is not obedience.

It's rebellion and slow motion.
