1. The Missing Tribe: Why Dan Disappears in Revelation

One of the strangest details in Revelation appears in the list of the tribes.

“Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand…

Of the tribe of Reuben…

Of the tribe of Gad…”

— Revelation 7:5 (KJV)

But something shocking happens.

The tribe of Dan is missing.

In the Old Testament, the tribes normally include:

  1. Reuben
  2. Simeon
  3. Levi
  4. Judah
  5. Dan
  6. Naphtali
  7. Gad
  8. Asher
  9. Issachar
  10. Zebulun
  11. Joseph
  12. Benjamin

Yet Revelation replaces Dan with Manasseh.

Why is Dan missing?

Several theories exist:

1️⃣ Idolatry connection

Dan became a center of idolatry in Israel.

“And the children of Dan set up the graven image.”— Judges 18:30 (KJV)

Because of this, some early Christians believed Dan symbolized apostasy.

2️⃣ Early church tradition

Some early writers (like Irenaeus) believed the Antichrist might come from Dan.

This idea came from a prophecy in Genesis.

“Dan shall be a serpent by the way.”— Genesis 49:17 (KJV)

Whether symbolic or literal, the absence of Dan is clearly intentional.

2. The Rearranged Tribes: A List Unlike Any Other in the Bible

The tribal order in Revelation 7 is completely unique.

No other passage lists them this way.

Revelation’s order begins with Judah, not Reuben.

Revelation Order | Traditional Birth Order

Judah | Reuben
Reuben | Simeon
Gad | Levi
Asher | Judah

Why start with Judah?

Because Christ comes from the tribe of Judah.

“The Lion of the tribe of Juda… hath prevailed.”— Revelation 5:5 (KJV)

The reordered list centers the Messianic tribe first.

3. The 144 Cubits Wall: A Hidden Numerical Symbol

Revelation gives a surprising measurement for the city wall.

“And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits.”— Revelation 21:17 (KJV)

144 cubits = 12 × 12

This number echoes:

  • 144,000 sealed servants
  • 12 tribes
  • 12 apostles

It reinforces the idea that the city is built upon the complete people of God.

4. Eden Restored: The Garden Returns in Revelation

The final chapters of Revelation deliberately echo the Garden of Eden.

Genesis begins with a garden.

Revelation ends with a restored paradise.

Eden | New Jerusalem

Tree of life | Tree of life returns
River flows from Eden | River of life flows from throne
Humanity expelled | Humanity welcomed
Curse begins | Curse removed

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life.”— Revelation 22:1 (KJV)

The Bible begins in a garden and ends in a city-garden.

5. The High Priest’s Breastplate Hidden in the City

One of the most stunning symbolic connections appears in the 12 gemstones of the New Jerusalem.

“The foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones.”— Revelation 21:19 (KJV)

These stones correspond closely with the 12 stones on the High Priest’s breastplate.

Exodus describes them:

“And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve.”— Exodus 28:21 (KJV)

The High Priest carried the tribes on his chest before God.

Revelation shows the entire city made of those stones.

Meaning:

God’s people themselves become the priestly dwelling place.

Why These Insights Matter

These details reveal that Revelation is deeply connected to:

  • Genesis
  • Exodus
  • Temple worship
  • Israel’s tribal structure

The book is not random symbolism.

It is a massive tapestry woven from the entire Bible.

Here at the Underground News Network, we can also show you one of the most eerie things in Revelation that almost nobody notices:

The beast of Revelation 13 is actually a fusion of all four beasts from Daniel 7 — forming a single super-empire.
