Jewish Esther and the Jewish book of Esther was stolen from Ishtar, aka:
The Jewish Virgin Mary “Queen of Heaven” was stolen from Astaroth.
⚔️ THE CLAIM:
It is proposed that:
-
Esther from the Bible was “stolen” from the Babylonian goddess Ishtar (also called Astarte, Ashtar, or Astaroth)
-
The Virgin Mary and her title “Queen of Heaven” were likewise derived from this same pagan entity
This accusation rests on name similarity, pagan goddess worship, and the syncretist attempt to blend holy Scripture with heathen myths.
Let us expose this accusation and destroy it with the Sword of the Spirit—the King James Bible.
📖 1. WHO IS ESTHER ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE?
“So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal... And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight…”
— Esther 2:16–17
-
Esther was a Jewish woman named Hadassah (Esther was her Persian name)
-
She was raised by Mordecai, a captive in Persia
-
Through God's providence, she became queen of Persia
-
She risked her life to save her people from Haman’s genocide
She is never called a goddess, never deified, never prayed to, and does not resemble Ishtar in character, role, or worship.
🏺 2. WHO IS ISHTAR / ASTARTE / ASHTAROTH / ASTAROTH?
-
Ishtar was the Babylonian goddess of sex, war, and fertility
-
Known in Canaanite form as Ashtoreth / Astarte / Astaroth
-
She was condemned in the Old Testament:
“And the children of Israel did evil again... and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth...”
— Judges 10:6
“Then came the women kneading dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven...”
— Jeremiah 7:18
The "Queen of Heaven" in Jeremiah is a rebellious pagan idol, not Mary, and certainly not Esther.
❌ 3. FALLACY OF NAME SIMILARITY
-
“Esther” may sound like “Ishtar,” but name similarity is not proof of identity
-
She is never worshiped
-
Her actions oppose idolatry, not promote it
-
She called for fasting, not pagan ritual
⚠️ 4. MARY — NOT “QUEEN OF HEAVEN” IN SCRIPTURE
The Catholic title “Queen of Heaven” given to Mary is a man-made invention, and not found in the King James Bible.
Nowhere is Mary to be worshiped, crowned, or exalted above:
“My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.”
— Luke 1:46-47
Mary calls God her Savior, which means she was not sinless, and not divine.
📜 5. WHY DO THESE CLAIMS EXIST?
Because modern occult, Masonic, and gnostic forces:
-
Seek to merge Scripture with Babylonian mystery religions
-
Wish to erase the unique identity of God's people and His Word
-
Desire to replace biblical women of faith with sexualized pagan idols
This is the doctrine of Jezebel resurrected in academia, media, and pop culture.
“Thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess... to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.”
— Revelation 2:20
✅ VERDICT:
-
Esther is a real Jewish woman, not a disguised fertility goddess
-
Her courage and sacrifice reflect faith in the God of Israel, not idolatry
-
The title “Queen of Heaven” applied to Mary is unscriptural, and its origin in Jeremiah refers to demonic worship
-
These parallels are deceptive distortions meant to discredit Scripture
“They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.”
— Jonah 2:8
