4th February at Long Can Hall
Committee Attendees: Martin Dower (MD), Scott Robert (SR), Jennie Rolls (JR), Jacqui George (JG), Becky Lloyd (BL)
Apologies: Sean Kelly (SK), Vicky Lowcock (VL),
Guest Residents: John Taylor (JT).
AGENDA
- We approved and published the minutes for January at https://public.3.basecamp.com/p/d478FU4wnLPT2gRPJXQUa6RS.
- The committee meeting was started with sufficient members to pass motions
- We reviewed the latest MF bill and found it acceptable. However, we are going to request copies of the "Playground Report" as a a resident queried the contents citron list and timescale of some of the items that "should have been picked up"
- The final details of the Little Village Bake-Off was agreed with JR and JG, including the selection of the prizes (a pinny and a voucher provided by Long Can Hall). It was noted that operating funds for small stuff that like this doesn't exists and (again) the committee members are putting their hands into their own pocket to fund this stuff. (internal task is at The Little Village Bake-Off - FHVRA for FHVRA)
- We discussed, and agreed, to purchase/acquire a collection box to fund some of the small expenses that the committee incur during the year plus we will look for a "bigger sponsor" who might make a donation to cover the running expenses (these are expected to be no more than a few hundred pounds per year)
- The contents of the next email out and the Little Village Survey were approved and this will be sent out over the next few weeks.
- Planning for the Easter Egg event is well under way. Led by VK and supported by JG, JR, and SR the date for this is set and will be published after the Little Bake-Off event.
- We discussed the next walk around (12th Feb) and MD will attend with the current residents issue list.
- The funding for the new Village Noticeboard has not yet landed, once it does we'll poll the village for where it should be placed (budget permitting).
Residents Issue List
This was updated and reviewed and the following items are outstanding, in-progress
- Weed clearance and general tidying up of paths: This is mostly not the responsibility of Meadfleet as very few paths have been handed over so should revert to the developer or the council were the paths are adopted (mostly just OWR). Some householders are "adopting" some paths and keeping them clean and tidy - this is to be applauded and we'd like to encourage more of this as it a) makes out village nicer and b) reduces the risk of MF taking over and increasing our bills. It was pretty clear that most don't know what is yet handed over for maintenance so we intend to publish a rolling document that covers this. Once published this can be used as a reference when folks ask question.
- Blocked drains on Maltings Road have been notified to the developer, via Meadfleet. it is thought that these may be holding up the adoption by the council of this road. This will be raised on the next Walk-Round on the 12th.
- The previously "abandoned cars in the park" were not abandoned but owned by a resident who has since removed them to their drive. However, since then, 2 other cars have appeared which we are led to believe are owned by a resident who operates as a car dealer in the village. We'll be checking with them in due course and trying to come to a better solution than cluttering up the car park.
- A request has been made to further trim the bushes around the post-box. The recent trimming work has partially revealed the stone sign and it was agreed that it would be good if that was more visible.
- Some of the woodland and wild areas are becoming overgrown, trees are encroaching on gardens (65FHR) and external fences (17PV) as well as being unsightly (Bramling Court). This will be raised on the next walk around.
- The steps by the slide in the upper park need attention: the handrail was removed and hasn't been replaced yet and the steps are slippy. This will be raised on the next walk around. We have also been asked by a resident for copies of all the Playground Reports, if we get them they will be shared with the village.
- The Village Signpost on the top of Maltings Road: After the aborted attempt to move it for the Xmas tree it needs to be made good again, re-painted and plants around it's base. This will be raised on the next walk around.
- The alleged planning for a new pig farm on Buckley Road: This was raised at the last Ward Forum meeting and will be raised again at the next one. No further complaints have been received.
The meeting started at 7:15pm and closed at 9pm.
