I purchased this in January 2021. I've done one major upgrade: the recommended grouphead v2 upgrade, which has improved the flow, temperature, and overall consistency.
I've always used either low calcium spring water, and then at some point switched to RO water to prevent any buildup, and done regular maintenance to keep the machine in good working order. I included a picture of the stats about the number of shots and steams, but I think this is just counting on my current install of the app on my tablet, not since I bought the machine. I think I've probably averaged about 2-3 shots and one steam per day for 4 years, so it would be about 3,700 total shots and 1500 steams.
The only problem I've had is a failure of the original tablet--it no longer holds a charge. So if you purchase this machine, you will need to either install the app on your own tablet (there are instructions here: https://decentespresso.com/downloads), or you could purchase the converter so that the original tablet can work off USB power without a battery (https://decentespresso.com/cart?filter=battery%20free%20kit). If you go with option 2, you will need to use an external USB power source, since on v1.42, the USB power is not continuous while making a shot. So I would recommend just buying a cheap tablet, or running the app on a tablet you also use for other things. I'm currently running the app on a tablet that I need to keep for my own use, so that's why you'll need to find your own solution for how to run the app.
The machine is not currently under warranty, but you can easily put it back under warranty at any time (https://decentespresso.com/warranty).
I'm glad to include the filter3 basket in a second portafilter (and some filter papers), which I've really enjoyed using over the last year or so. Recently, I have been using this more often than making espresso. I can also include my normcore tamper and WDT tool as well if you're interested. I'll also include a steam pitcher if I can fit it in the suitcase.
I'm only selling because I'm moving overseas to a 220v country, so I won't be able to bring this.
I know this model is no longer sold, but when it was, Decent marketed it as all you needed for home use, while the DE1Pro and up were more robust, for use in a commercial setting.
I will send the machine in the original black suitcase.
