One of the most chilling patterns in Revelation is what many scholars call the “Unholy Trinity.”

Just as Christianity teaches the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Revelation presents a dark imitation consisting of:

  • The Dragon
  • The Beast
  • The False Prophet

Together they form a counterfeit trinity that seeks to replace God’s authority and deceive the world.

The True Trinity

The Bible describes the divine relationship between:

Person | Role

Father | Source of authority
Son (Christ) | Redeemer and King
Holy Ghost | Testifies to Christ and empowers believers

The Holy Ghost’s role is especially important.

“He shall glorify me:

for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”— John 16:14 (KJV)

The Spirit directs people to worship Christ.

The Dragon: The Counterfeit Father

Revelation identifies the dragon clearly.

“That old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan.”— Revelation 12:9 (KJV)

The dragon functions as the source of authority for the beast.

“The dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”— Revelation 13:2 (KJV)

Just as the Father sends and empowers the Son, the dragon empowers the beast.

The Beast: The Counterfeit Son

The beast mirrors several characteristics of Christ.

For example, it appears to suffer a deadly wound and recover.

“His deadly wound was healed:

and all the world wondered after the beast.”— Revelation 13:3 (KJV)

This resembles a false resurrection, designed to inspire global loyalty.

The beast then receives worship from the world.

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast.”— Revelation 13:4 (KJV)

The False Prophet: The Counterfeit Spirit

Another figure appears later in Revelation.

“And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth.”— Revelation 13:11 (KJV)

This figure is later called the false prophet.

“The false prophet that wrought miracles before him.”— Revelation 19:20 (KJV)

His role closely resembles the Holy Ghost’s—but in a deceptive way.

He performs signs to convince people to worship the beast.

“He doeth great wonders… and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth.”— Revelation 13:13–14 (KJV)

The Dark Trinity Compared

True Trinity | Unholy Trinity

Father | Dragon
Son (Christ) | Beast
Holy Ghost | False Prophet

True Function | Counterfeit Function

Father gives authority to the Son | Dragon gives authority to the beast
Son redeems humanity | Beast deceives humanity
Spirit glorifies Christ | False prophet promotes beast worship

The Goal of the Unholy Trinity

The purpose of this counterfeit system is clear.

It attempts to redirect worship away from God.

“All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him.”— Revelation 13:8 (KJV)

This is the ultimate spiritual battle in Revelation:

Who receives worship—God or the beast?

The Final Outcome

Despite the deception, the prophecy ends with the defeat of the false trinity.

“These both were cast alive into a lake of fire.”— Revelation 19:20 (KJV)

The dragon is also defeated.

“And the devil… was cast into the lake of fire.”— Revelation 20:10 (KJV)

The counterfeit kingdom collapses before the true King.

Summary

Revelation presents a dark parody of the Trinity:

Dragon → counterfeit father

Beast → counterfeit messiah

False prophet → counterfeit spirit

Together they form a deceptive system designed to capture humanity’s loyalty.

But the book ends with the triumph of Christ, showing that every counterfeit power ultimately falls before the Lamb.

Here at the Underground News Network, we can also show you one final hidden literary design in Revelation that scholars find incredible:

There is a perfect mirror between the first and last chapters of the book where nearly every symbol introduced early is resolved at the end.
