“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry...” — 1 Samuel 15:23, KJV
🧭 What Does 1 Samuel 15:23 Mean?
This verse is the prophet Samuel rebuking King Saul for disobeying God’s command.
Saul had been instructed to completely destroy the Amalekites, but he kept the best livestock and spared King Agag.
Saul claimed he did it to offer sacrifices to the LORD, but God desires obedience, not sacrifice.

Rebellion is compared to witchcraft because both are acts of willful defiance against the authority of God.
Witchcraft attempts to operate in unauthorized spiritual power, and rebellion does the same—it rejects God's dominion and asserts self-will.

📖 “For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it:
thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” — Psalm 51:16–17
❓Does This Include Fornication While Claiming the Holy Ghost?
Yes.
All willful sin—including fornication—is rebellion when done knowingly, especially by one who claims the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of God never leads a person into sin. If a person claims to have the Holy Ghost, yet continues in known sin,
they are either:

they are either:
- Grieving or resisting the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30, Acts 7:51)
- Deceived
- Lying about their relationship with God.
📖 “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him:
and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” — 1 John 3:9
That doesn’t mean a true believer will never fall.
But it does mean they cannot continue in sin without conviction.
A person who sins without remorse and still claims the Spirit is operating in delusion or rebellion.

🆓 Can You Have the Holy Ghost and Still Sin by Free Will?
Yes—but only to a point.
Free will remains, but the Holy Ghost convicts and chastens the true believer.
A real Christian may fall, but they cannot make peace with sin.

📖 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” — 1 John 2:1
But deliberate, unrepentant rebellion against the Spirit leads to spiritual death:
📖 “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins…” — Hebrews 10:26
💭 What If They Claim They Are “Special” and God Allows Their Sin?
That is a lie from hell.
God does not show partiality.
To claim special permission from God to sin is blasphemy, and it reveals the spirit of antichrist:

📖 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:
for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.” — James 1:13
Such claims are doctrines of devils—spiritual gaslighting to excuse wickedness.
🕯️ What If They Haven’t Picked Up the Bible in Months?
That’s a sign of backsliding.
The Word is life and bread to the believer.
A person who refuses to read Scripture is either spiritually sick or already dead inside:

📖 “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” — Matthew 4:4
📖 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” — Psalm 119:105
If they do not hunger for the Word, they do not hunger for God.
💡 Final Wisdom:
If someone tells you:
"God is okay with my sin,"
"I'm an exception,"
"The Holy Ghost lets me do this,"
"I haven’t needed to read Scripture lately…”
Then you must flee their counsel, for they are walking in rebellion and witchcraft, whether they wear a cross or quote a verse.
